Two stabbed in early-morning altercation on Ria Street

COLUMBIA — A knife assault occurred on the 4400 block of Ria Street off Clark Lane early Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department. Two victims, a 22-year-old male from Columbia and a 19-year-old female from Clinton, were taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

A woman arrived at the male victim's house around 1:30 a.m., the release said; the man was her ex-boyfriend. The woman got into an argument with the female victim, who was also at the house, and then got a knife from the kitchen and began making threats, the release said.

The woman stabbed the female victim in the chest and cut her hair with the knife, the release said, and the male victim was stabbed when he tried to take the weapon from the suspect. The woman fled the scene, police said.
