LETTER: Palin lacks truthfulness, tact and tolerance

Monday, September 22, 2008 | 2:41 p.m. CDT

Sarah Palin must have some good qualities or she wouldn't be governor of Alaska. However, she lacks three that are necessary for better national and world leadership: truthfulness, tact and tolerance.

Among others, the "eBay sale" of Alaska's state plane is an example of untruthfulness.

Damning the press at her acceptance speech shows her lack of tact. She has a tendency to be a smart aleck and that is disastrous for fruitful negotiations.

Palin is intolerant of women's right to choose and gays' equality. She, like the "far-right Christians" who support her, would use her freedom to take away the freedom of others. She bases this on her religious beliefs.

We live in a country with many religious beliefs. Each must be respectful and none force itself upon the other.

We have had a lack of truthfulness, tact and tolerance in the White House during the past eight years. We need no more of it, so vote carefully!

An exact quote of Palin from the RNC:
"That luxury jet was over the top. I put it on eBay."

How is that untruthful? She did it. It is a documented fact.

How did she "damn" the press? Huh? What? And how can you lack tact when it comes to a group so devoid of tact that it is laughable. Journalists are biased to the left. Here is a recent admission by a person who is an honored teacher of future journalists directly saying that they are: http://www.columbiamissourian.com/storie...

She is intolerant? Sorry, but the dictionary does not define intolerance as a failure to agree with Donna Jones. Could not the same be said in reverse - that B. Hussein Obama is intolerant of unborn children (or "slightly-born children - as the case may be).

Palin is not without fault. But your arguments are pretty ridiculous.

I'm not voting for the McCain/Palin ticket not because of the Palin points you've insinuated in your letter, but for the lack of accountability the Republicans have avoided placing on "W" and his cronies for the last two terms. If voting Democrat, (OBAMA/BIDEN) turns out to be a mistake, we can always vote them out next time around. I've given up on "big oil," something I believe Palin's part of. Time to give the Democrats a shot in the White House again! I'm willing to take the gamble. (I've seen what a Republican president can do.)
