ST. LOUIS — Parents in St. Charles County are being warned against hosting underage drinkers in the home.

Healthy Communities said a study by the MU School of Medicine found a higher rate of underage drinking in that eastern Missouri county than in the state and nation.

The group said about one in four students surveyed in sixth through 12th grades reported using alcohol in the past month.

Julie Brilley of Healthy Communities says it is unclear why the underage drinking statistics are greater in St. Charles County.

But she added all communities should be on alert for underage drinking, particularly during homecoming festivities.
