CAPE GIRARDEAU — Officials in Cape Girardeau are assessing what's being described as thousands of dollars of damage by vandals at the Capaha Park baseball stadium.

Images and expletives were splayed across the green tin wall, the large white stadium doors and several signs sometime after Friday night.

Park authorities say it's the third major hit by vandals in the last half-dozen years. They're discussing how they can make the park more secure.

Capaha Park is the oldest in the city's park system and includes three baseball fields. The field that was hit by vandals is home to the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks and the Capahas, a semi-professional baseball team.
