Hornbeck recounts time spent in captivity

ST. LOUIS — Shawn Hornbeck says there were times during captivity when he thought he'd be better off dead.

Shawn and his family recounted the story during an interview with CBS News' "48 Hours Mystery.'' The program airs at 9 p.m.  Saturday.

Shawn was 11 when he was kidnapped by Michael Devlin in 2002 near his home in Washington County. He was freed last year, and Devlin is now serving multiple life sentences.

Now 17, Shawn tells an interviewer that his greatest fear over the more than four years of captivity was that he'd never see his family again.

The show also includes an interview with Ben Ownby, who was 13 when he was abducted by Devlin in January 2007. Both boys were found at Devlin's suburban St. Louis apartment four days after Ben's abduction.
