COLUMBIA — The Columbia Public School District is again selling six vacant lots and one school building — and advertising the sales on the district's Web site. The district has no plans to build on the lots and is therefore selling the properties, said purchasing agent Greg Cooper.

This is the first time the properties have been for sale since a June 24 auction in which only one property, Wade School, was sold. Joseph and Angela Baldwin bought the Wade property for $20,000, according to a previous Missourian article.

The school building, known as Strawn School, is being sold in its "as is, where is" condition, which means the buyer is responsible for knowing the condition beforehand. Sealed bids will be accepted by Cooper until 4 p.m. Sept. 30.

The properties that are being sold are two 90-by-147.2-foot vacant lots across from Oakland Junior High School; ; a 90-by-142-foot vacant lot across from Oakland Junior High; a 70.08-by-144.69-foot vacant lot across from Derby Ridge Elementary School; a 65-by-125-foot vacant lot on the east side of Derby Ridge Elementary; 13.42 acres of vacant land on Ballenger Lane, about 1 1/4 miles east of the bus barn on Clark Lane; and 4.20 acres at 500 Strawn Road,  including a 7,260 square foot building, also known as Strawn School.
