SPRINGFIELD — The national offices of two Drury University fraternities have temporarily suspended the local clubs following an off-campus party that resulted in arrests the hospitalization of one man for alcohol poisoning.
The Springfield News-Leader reported on its Web site Friday that national leaders for the Kappa Alpha and Sigma Nu fraternities confirmed that their members were involved in the Sept. 13 off-campus party.
The party in rural Stone County led to 16 people being charged with underaged possession of alcohol and an 18-year-old man being taken to a hospital for alcohol poisoning.
Kappa Alpha officials said that the local chapter co-hosted the party and that the national organization could announce additional sanctions against the chapter next week.
Sigma Nu officials said they're still looking into the issue.
