JOPLIN — Several businesses in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma have been fooled by a man promising mobile advertising.
But investigators say the mobile advertising sign was a home flat-screen television held onto the top of an old van with 2-by-4s, bolts and bungee cords.
Arrest warrants name Valerie Fleming and her husband, Charles Adams. The Jasper County sheriff said Thursday the business is registered with the Missouri Secretary of State's office as 4 State Ad Company, Four State Big Ad Company and Big Ad Company.
At least 10 businesses in Jasper County alone say they were promised that ads that would be seen by thousands of people.
Authorities said businesses in Pittsburg and Frontenac in Kansas and Owasso, Okla., also said they were victimized.
Authorities say the services were offered for $1,490.
