COLUMBIA — The Columbia Police Department, which is currently in the process of revising its strategic plan, is seeking community opinion in efforts to improve the program.

“The last strategic plan was done in 2003,” said Columbia police Capt. Stephen Monticelli. “It’s plainly outdated. It needs to be revised.”

Anyone from Columbia, including visitors, can voice an opinion by going to freewebs.com/cpdstrategy and completing the online survey.

The survey, which will remain online until Oct. 18, asks participants to rank various levels of crime in their neighborhoods, comment on crime rates and make suggestions on how the Police Department can tailor its assistance to neighborhood needs.

“The information we’re getting will provide us the framework to actually revise the strategic plan,” Monticelli said.

In addition to the online survey, the Police Department will be holding gatherings in which participants can speak directly to an officer or complete one of the surveys on site
