A man was arrested Thursday night in connection with a robbery Monday morning at Bandana's Bar-B-Q in Columbia.

The suspect, Victor Lee McNeary Jr., of 3655 Scott Blvd., was taken into custody after a felony traffic stop by  Columbia police, according to a news release. He was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

At 8 a.m. on Monday, a man entered through the back door of the restaurant and struck an employee on the head with a handgun, the release said. Columbia police Sgt. Ken Hammond said the officers identified McNeary by his vehicle and appearance. Officers had been observing him at his residence before the traffic stop, Hammond said.

A Boone County Jail employee said McNeary was being held without bond because of previous charges, including two counts of armed criminal action and six counts of robbery.

Hammond said McNeary had no connection to the restaurant.
