ABERDEEN, S.D. — The arrest of a Texas woman charged with smothering her infant has prompted Aberdeen police to reopen the investigation into the 2006 death of another of the woman's children.
Police in Lee's Summit say 29-year-old Sweet Cherry Ann Halliburton told them after her arrest this week that she killed her 6-week-old son by pulling her car off the interstate and smothering the infant on her lap.
Investigators say Halliburton previously had two babies die of what was ruled Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
One of those babies died last year in Fort Worth, Texas.
The other was a 7-month-old girl named Krystal who died Jan. 8, 2006, in Aberdeen.
An autopsy listed the cause of death as undetermined, but authorities suspected she died of SIDS.
