COLUMBIA — A Columbia man faces federal child pornography charges stemming from an arrest in May, after he allegedly drove to a Carthage hotel to meet someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl.

John S. Green, 25, was charged in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri with possession of child pornography. If convicted, he could face as many as 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.

FBI agents arrested Green on Friday and were holding him at the Boone County Jail without bail.

Authorities accuse him of driving to the hotel to meet someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl who turned out to be an undercover Jasper County sheriff's detective. Green also allegedly used a Web cam to expose himself online three times.

Authorities said they also found about 40 images of child pornography and 17 videos of child pornography.
