WASHINGTON — A private watchdog group has filed an ethics complaint against Republican Sen. Kit Bond of Missouri for his role in former U.S. Attorney Todd Graves' removal from office.
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington filed the complaint Tuesday with the Senate Ethics Committee.
The action follows a report Monday from the U.S Justice Department that Bond's legal counsel, Jack Bartling, asked the White House in 2005 to remove Graves as the top federal prosecutor in Kansas City.
The request came because of friction between Bond's staff and the staff of Graves' brother, Rep. Sam Graves, R-Mo.
