ST. LOUIS — An eastern Missouri man is charged with murder in the death of a 6-week-old baby.
Police in Troy say 23-year-old Ronald Schupmann hit and shook his girlfriend's infant daughter. The baby died three days later.
Schupmann told authorities the baby was choking and turning blue, and he may have accidentally struck her too hard as he tried to stop her from choking.
Authorities say Schupmann was not the child's biological father.
Schupmann is held on $100,000 bond and charged with second-degree murder.
