ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for running down a man on a sidewalk.

Shaun White, 30, pleaded guilty to reduced charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the 2007 death of 44-year-old Michael Bradford of Jennings. White was originally charged with first-degree murder and trial was set to begin Monday.

Bradford was walking on the sidewalk while arguing with White, who was in a sport utility vehicle. Witnesses told police that Bradford threw an empty bottle at the SUV, breaking a window.

Authorities say White turned around, drove onto the sidewalk and struck Bradford.
