Fans gathered at Carnahan Quadrangle to show their support for the MU football team Thursday evening at a spirit rally. Coach Gary Pinkel, MU football players, Mini Mizzou and the Spirit Squads all made appearances.
Tiger Radio Network commentator Gary Link revved up the crowd at the rally.

"They're not going there to knock on the door, they're going to Lincoln, Nebraska, to knock the damn door down," Link said.
Fans came dressed in black and gold to show their support of the football team before the Tiger's conference opener against Nebraska.
"It's a great opener. Better than a game against Iowa State or Baylor," MU Student Adam Joyce said. "Our stretch will end Saturday. I think we're going to beat them by at least three touchdowns."
Besides being a conference opener, the game marks the 30th year in which MU has not won a game at Nebraska.
"This game is going to be fine. We had a week to get people rested, and we have a good strong team with mature players, better than we've had in past years," MU alumnus Don Johnson said. "Nebraska is a tremendous influence at home with their home crowd, but they can lose. They lost last Saturday night.
"An opener on the road is always a challenge, but it's probably a good place to start at, and we have other strong teams to play when we get back," Johnson said.
"It doesn't matter, we're going to beat them and move on to win a championship this year," MU student Brent Stepanek said. "Winning this year will be much more than they have to brag about for the past 30 years. We can always beat them for the next 30 years now."
The Alumni Association Student Board, which helped organize the spirit rally, is also taking a bus to Nebraska for the game.
"We sold out our bus for the trip," said Miranda Leppin, president of the student board. "The trip includes the bus, the Alumni Association tailgate, spirit items and the ticket."
The game will be televised at 8 p.m. Saturday on ESPN, and there will be radio coverage on the Tiger Radio Network and Sirius Channel 119.
