COLUMBIA — The Boone County Prosecutor’s Office was in the process of moving Friday.
When asked about the move at 11:40 a.m., an office representative said, "This has to be fast. They're disconnecting the phone lines."
Less than a minute later, the line was dead. The move was imminent.
The staff is expected to be back to business on Monday in the newly added fourth floor of the Boone County Courthouse.
Two floors, the third and the fourth, were recently added to the courthouse. The prosecutor's new office will be on the fourth, and a new courtroom will take the third.
"The office will be substantially bigger," said Joy Rushing, assistant to the court administrator.
The former prosecutor's office at 705 E. Walnut St. will be renovated for use by the circuit clerk's office, Rushing said.
