Man arrested after knife assault Friday night

COLUMBIA — Police have arrested a 42-year-old Columbia man following a knife assault at Forest Village Apartments, 3001 S. Providence Road, late Friday night.

The victim, a 29-year-old male from Columbia, was taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

Police arrived at the scene at 10:21 p.m. and found the victim and the suspect outside of an apartment on South Providence Road. The victim had arrived at the apartment earlier, and an argument ensued between the suspect and him, according to the release. The victim received multiple stab wounds to the head and one to the hand.

John Sasek, 42, of Columbia, was arrested on suspicion of assault, Sgt. Will Green said.
