St. Louis runner wins half-marathon

COLUMBIA — A St. Louis man finished first overall at the fifth annual Wilson's Half-Marathon Challenge on Sunday morning.

The race began at 8 a.m. at Peace Park, and Matt Dirnbeck finished with a time of 1:17:53:12, according to the preliminary results.

The marathon benefits Central Missouri Community Action. It is a nonprofit agency that enables individuals and families to achieve self-reliance through programs designed to fight poverty.

The half-marathon's director, Lisa Wells, estimated that 500 people participated in the marathon.
