Animals from largest Missouri raid up for adoption

ST. LOUIS — Nearly two months after 370 animals were taken from a property in southwest Missouri, some of those animals are now finding new homes.

The Humane Society of Missouri and a fish hatchery gained custody of the animals last month. On Sunday, dozens of them were put up for adoption. The animals were seized in August in Polk County.

The animals up for adoption include dogs and cats but also guinea pigs, rabbits and other critters.

The rescue has been called the largest in the history of the Humane Society of Missouri. Investigators say animals and people — including six children — were living in filthy conditions at the site. The Humane Society says the animals had little or no access to adequate food, water or shelter.
