ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Board of Police Commissioners is close to naming a new chief.

The public could learn as early as Monday, after the board meets. The board has narrowed the list of finalists to eight, all internal candidates.

The board is seeking a replacement for Joe Mokwa, who retired this summer during a federal investigation into a towing lot scandal involving the department.

And to think Columbia is still in the process of finding a new police chief. The St. Louis Police Chief resigned after Columbia's chief announced his intentions and yet our City Manager is still months away from naming a successor. What's the delay? It doesn't take this amount of time for the President of the United States to select a Director of the FBI.
