KANSAS CITY— Police say a Missouri woman who didn't return her four children to state custody has been found in Olympia, Wash.

Authorities have been looking for Shirley Riggs since she and her children did not return to Independence on Sept. 20.

The Kansas City Star reports that Riggs was found Sunday afternoon at an Olympia motel. Her children ages 7, 10, 12 and 15 are safe and in protective custody.

Riggs disappeared a few days before she was scheduled to have a custody hearing. Police say she was afraid of losing her children. Authorities say it was the fourth time Riggs had left the state with the children.
