COLUMBIA — Deputies with the Boone County Sheriff's Department arrested Macaeo D. Crook, 33, of Columbia on Thursday on suspicion of domestic assault, kidnapping and armed criminal action, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

The arrest was in connection with an incident that occurred Oct. 4, when a woman returned to her house in the Clearview subdivision after a vacation to find a man waiting for her, according to the release.

He then threatened her with a firearm and physically assaulted her. Then he tried to prevent her from leaving her house, the release said.

She managed to leave in her car, but he followed her. Eventually she escaped and contacted Boone Hospital Center, the release said. She was treated for minor injuries.

As of 8:15 p.m. Friday, Crook was being held on three $100,000 bonds for the charges brought Friday and a warrant as a result of a previous charge for assault in the third degree, for which he was jailed for 270 days.
