Any appointed or elected officials that were sworn under the oath of lawful office to conduct themselves faithfully under all the laws of our constitution and state, but then violate that oath, should never deserve re-election.
The Missouri state law, pertaining to the privilege to operate a motor vehicle lawfully, must be obeyed and followed by all citizens. No citizen is allowed to operate a vehicle on our roads while under the influence of alcohol.
It has been said that the driving experience by Sen. Chuck Graham, which led to his arrest, was based on the observance of a local police officer, who discovered that the senator appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
Therefore, Sen. Graham has violated my trust, because his inability to manage and control his own personal life and affairs, without the use of a legal drug called alcohol, is an overt example of recklessness and carelessness of self-will run riot. We do not need that kind of character in public office, which seems to suggest that some citizens are above the law. Moreover, it sends the wrong message to our youth. It became apparent to me, while attending Grant Elementary School's day of graduation 2008, in which the educators were handing out awards, in honor of the senator, to some of its students.
Sen. Graham should resign from office. I hope voters encourage him to do so, under our form of government. We need to uphold and support our laws equally.
I'm sure he could be voted in as a leader, with his hope, strength, faith and experience, at one of our local Alcoholics Anonymous chapters. I'll vote for that.
