PrintCOLUMBIA — The public defender of a Hallsville man accused of killing his brother-in-law filed motions Tuesday to allow additional witnesses and exclude others.
William P. Clinch, 37, of Hallsville, is accused of shooting his former brother-in-law, 32-year-old Jeremy Bohannon, to death in Sept. 2007 in a Columbia McDonald's parking lot. He is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Clinch appeared with his public defender in Boone County Circuit Judge Gene Hamilton's courtroom. Hamilton took the motions under advisement, but did not issue a ruling.
The two men had feuded for several months leading up the the shooting. Clinch and several of his family members filed restraining orders against Bohannon.
Bohannon and Clinch's sister, Amanda Clinch, divorced the month before the shooting.
Clinch is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 12 for a pre-trial hearing. His jury trial is scheduled for later that month.
