BERNIE — A 2-year-old southeast Missouri girl is dead after a farm accident.
The accident happened Monday morning near Bernie in Stoddard County. Authorities say the girl was run over by a tractor that was attempting to unload cotton into a module.
The girl's name was not released.
Authorities say it was common for the girl, who would have turned 3 this month, to accompany her parents to work on the farm. She had apparently hidden in a tarp and could not be seen by the tractor operator.
The girl was flown by helicopter to a Cape Girardeau hospital after the accident. She died at the hospital.
