WASHINGTON — Democratic candidate Judy Baker says she has raised about $650,000 since July in her bid for Missouri's 9th District congressional seat.

The state representative from Columbia has about $325,000 cash on hand to spend in the final weeks leading up to the Nov. 4 election.

Baker is running against Republican Blaine Luetkemeyer, a former state lawmaker and Missouri tourism director from St. Elizabeth.

Luetkemeyer was expected to file his latest fundraising report later Wednesday.

The open congressional seat was created when Republican Rep. Kenny Hulshof, also from Columbia, decided to run for governor.

Baker has raised more than $1 million so far this year. She received a major boost after winning an influential endorsement from EMILY's List, the pro-abortion rights fundraising group that seeks to elect female candidates.
