MILAN, Mo. — A new dog food preparation plant is bringing up to 80 new jobs to northeast Missouri.
Milan Processing started operating Wednesday in the former location of ConAgra and Bluff Country Foods in Milan.
The new tenant is a division of Delaware-based Pet Poultry. It has already hired 20 employees and will hire an additional 50 to 60 workers over the next six to eight months.
General Manager Norvel Lane said the plant will prepare chicken, turkey and pork for companies such as Purina and Nestle to turn into dog food.
The plant has been empty since Bluff Country Foods closed in mid-2007 after operating for only eight months.
