JEFFERSON CITY — Democratic governor nominee Jay Nixon reports raising about 1 1/2 times the amount of money in September that Republican Kenny Hulshof raised.
Fundraising reports filed Wednesday show Nixon bringing in $3.8 million from Aug. 31 through Sept. 30, compared with Hulshof's $2.3 million.
Nixon, who's the incumbent attorney general, also reported $3.2 million on hand at the end of September. Hulshof, a six-term congressman, reported $1.2 million on hand.
The finance reports, filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission, are the first to cover an entire period without contribution limits. But donations exceeding $5,000 must be reported to the Ethics Commission within 48 hours.
