JEFFERSON CITY — A state computer technician testified to seeing an e-mail in which a former governor's office attorney raised concerns about the office's e-mail policy.
The deposition came in a lawsuit against Gov. Matt Blunt by former staff attorney Scott Eckersley.
Eckersley claimed he was fired last year after advising the governor's office that e-mails were public records that should be saved. Blunt's administration has denied Eckersley issued such cautions and has said he was fired for other reasons.
Computer technician Todd Mayfield recently was deposed as part of Eckersley's wrongful termination and defamation lawsuit. Mayfield says he saw a copy of an e-mail from Eckersley to top Blunt aides saying their public statements about e-mail weren't right.
