Concerts, festivals and fairs abound Oct. 17 to 19

Missouri Chestnut Roast

What: Celebrate Missouri's harvest of chestnuts, black walnuts and pecans, meats, jellies, wines, cheeses and more. Samples will be available, and products will be for sale. Enjoy free roasted chestnuts and demonstrations

When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday

Where: MU Horticulture and Agroforestry Research Center, New Franklin

Admission: Free. Assistance animals allowed but no pets.

Bacchanalia Music and Beer Fest

What: The festival will feature microbrews, headliners Les Claypool and Devotchka and a diverse gathering of Midwestern acts.

When:  4 to 7 p.m. Saturday

Where: Boone County Fairground

Admission: Tickets are $40.

KOPN Concert Benefit

What: This concert will feature musicians including Ironweed, Noah Earle and Jack Tar, along with short performance pieces by Abby Rhodes and Daryl Keller. Proceeds go to support KOPN 89.5 FM.

When: 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday

Where: Les Bourgeois Vineyards, Rocheport

Admission: Free

Civic Awareness Fair

What: Visit with Mayor Darwin Hindman and City Council members Paul Sturtz, Karl Skala and Laura Nauser. There will also be a scavenger hunt, snacks and door prizes.

When: 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday

Where: Activity and Recreation Center, 1701 W. Ash St.
