Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain plans to visit Columbia on Monday, Missouri Republican Party spokeswoman Tina Hervey said in an e-mail.
Hervey added that specifics on McCain's visit will be forthcoming from his campaign.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department was contacted by the U.S. Secret Service earlier this week about working with Columbia and Boone County law enforcement as part of McCain's security detail, Maj. Tom Reddin of the Sheriff's Department said.
McCain will be in Prince William County, Va., on Saturday and Toledo, Ohio, on Sunday. As of 4 p.m, McCain's campaign Web site didn't list any of his campaign stops on Monday or Tuesday.
Calls to the Secret Service concerning specific details about McCain's visit were referred to his campaign.
McCain campaign spokeswoman Wendy Riemann said Thursday that she could not confirm the visit.
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's campaign plans to stop in St. Louis on Saturday.
Check back with the Missourian for more details as they become available.

Who ever gets to interview him from the local news medias please dig him on what he is going to do for the disabled population of this country. Try to draw it out of him just what his actual policy on this issue is please. Pass this along to all of your news reporter friends as the disabled population across this state and country do want some straight answers. We have seen Obama's policies on this issue but we have seen no real comprehensive policy issues out of the McCain camp yet. His own web site is not that in depth on this issue.
