PrintIf you've noticed an empty space at the northeast corner of Broadway and Providence Road, it's because the vacant MFA oil service and gas station was torn down by property owner Dan Hagan. Given that this lot is near one of Columbia's more prominent intersections, the Missourian had a few questions.
Q: Why did Hagan remove the building?
A. Simply because "the structure had no economic value," Hagan said.
Q. How long has Hagan owned the lot?
A. More than 20 years, and Hagan said the MFA station was built in the 1950s.
Q. Does Hagan have any plans to develop the property?
A. No. It will be used by the city for parking.
Q. Has the city seen any plans to rebuild?
No. If Hagan plans to rebuild, there would have to be a technical and permit review by the city, and there has been none. Hagan's property might be in the flood-plain overlay, like some other buildings in the Central Business District, so any new structure would have to comply with flood-plain ordinances.

Thats sad to here but i was very upset to here that he sold his other 2 apartments.i felt like i grow up there.i almost did, but Dan Hagan is a smart guy and someone to look up too.I find that he just doesn't just do anything without thinking about it first.i guess change is good.some like change but i know i don't.i was shocked to hear it was gone but you can't being it back.In a year or two people will forget it was even there.Thats life.In fact i came back home to Ca my home town talk about a change.Alot of change,but its nice to see alot of the things that still stand here after so many years.nothing like lookin at something that brings the memorys back that you might have spent with a loved one.alive or gone.
