COLUMBIA — An Ashland man was injured Tuesday morning after his vehicle went airborne off U.S. 63 and landed in the median of Interstate 70, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.
At 6:53 a.m. Tuesday, Steven Hudson's Toyota Camry was traveling north on U.S. 63 when it crossed into the median, the release said. The vehicle then continued traveling and went airborne over the eastbound lanes of I-70 and landed in the interstate's median. From there, it struck one of the support beams for U.S. 63 and then a guardrail on the westbound side of I-70.
Hudson was extricated from the vehicle and taken by ambulance to University Hospital, according to the news release. As of 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Hudson was listed in fair condition at University Hospital.
Debris from the collision damaged one other vehicle on the interstate. Columbia resident Christi Brooks' Nissan Maxima had minor damage to its undercarriage, but Brooks was not injured, according to the news release.
Both Hudson and Brooks were wearing seat belts, the news release stated.
