LETTER: Judy Baker far better than what Luetkemeyer campaign says

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 | 11:54 a.m. CDT

Blaine Luetkemeyer has pushed me to action. I'm a physician, not a trained political operative, so maybe I find myself more disappointed with disregard for facts and distortions of truth from Mr. Luetkemeyer's campaign.

I was vice chair of University Physicians when Judy Baker served as the interim executive director. She shouldered the exact same responsibilities as those who followed her.

Her leadership skills, business acumen and health care expertise proved immensely valuable to the organization. She advocated for our patients and medical professionals to transform the way we delivered quality health care. For University Physicians and its patients, she was part of the solution.

I trust Judy to bring the same passion and skill to Washington at a time when leadership is needed to avert a crisis in health care financing and delivery that none of us have seen before.

This truth is far different than the political rhetoric of the Luetkemeyer campaign.
