I write in support of the candidacy of Chris Kelly for the Missouri House of Representatives 24th District. I have known Chris for more than 20 years, and I have great respect for his contributions to the legislative and judicial processes and for his unflagging integrity.
As a former member of the House (23rd and 26th districts) and budget committee chair, Chris worked tirelessly to make sure MU received a fair share of state funding. Even more importantly, when the College of Veterinary Medicine was threatened with closure, he rallied other members of the legislature (notably, then-Senator Roger Wilson and Representatives Ken Jacob and Jim Pauley) to work with certain university administrators to stop the foolishness. That work was successful and the college (Missouri's only one, by the way) now stands as one of the nation's leaders in veterinary education.
Chris accomplished much in his career, but his support of veterinary medicine at the time of crisis stands in my mind as one of his greatest accomplishments.
Despite the outrageous and untrue negative attack ads about him on the radio and television, Chris' integrity remains intact, and he is far and away the best choice for the 24th District seat. I urge all who vote in the 24th District on Nov. 4, to cast their ballots for Chris Kelly. He will serve as selflessly as he did in his earlier tenure in the legislature.
