PrintCOLUMBIA — A Columbia man was arrested after police caught him in the backyard of a home that had been broken into, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.
Terrence D. Strickland, 18, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary, property damage and resisting arrest, according to the release.
Columbia police officers responded to calls received from the Fenimore Drive area on Wednesday about a male ringing doorbells and banging on doors and windows of residences, according to the release.
A woman living on the 1600 block of High Quest Circle called 911, reporting that a man rang the doorbell at her front door and then entered her residence through the back window. The woman left the residence while calling the police, according to the release.
Police caught and arrested Strickland in the backyard after he ran from them. Strickland possessed a cell phone that was stolen during a burglary reported in the 900 block of North Seventh Street on Tuesday, according to the release.
Strickland was arrested last year for second-degree burglary, according to state court records.
