PrintVampires, werewolves and witches beware: The Halloween weather forecast is far from gloomy and dreary. With sunshine and a high reaching the lower 70s during the day and a low around 48 degrees, Friday's weather might be more serene than spooky.
Here's a look at where you can head to celebrate:
Tiger Night of Fun: Halloween festivities are numerous around mid-Missouri on All Hallow's Eve. The annual Halloween Tiger Night of Fun will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Hearnes Center. With games and treats, the free event is meant to be a safe alternative for kids to door-to-door trick-or-treating.
Spooktacular: At MU's Memorial Union, college students seeking Halloween festivities could attend Mizzou After Dark's Spooktacular. The event will feature a costume contest, Halloween-themed crafts, snacks and music.
A psychic will be on hand to read palms, and students will be able to take a tour of the haunted union. While the event is free to MU students with a valid student ID, it costs $5 for public admission. Spooktacular begins at 8 p.m. Friday and runs until midnight.
In addition to the Spooktacular event, Memorial Union will also host two screenings of this summer's Batman film, "The Dark Knight." The film will be screened at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.; admission is $1 for MU students.
... and remember: After filling up on candy and Halloween fun over the weekend, mid-Missourians shouldn't forget about the ending of daylight saving time early Sunday morning.
At 3 a.m. on Nov. 2, clocks should be turned back one hour. The Columbia Fire Department also reminds residents to take this time to install fresh batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
