SPRINGFIELD — A state corrections officer accused of multiple rapes in Springfield pleaded not guilty to 15 felony counts in five attacks.

Citing online court records, The Springfield News-Leader reported that 46-year-old Bobbie McGhee appeared Friday morning. The charges filed Wednesday include multiple counts of rape, sodomy and burglary over an eight-year period ending Oct. 8. McGhee was suspended from his job.

His case was referred to the public defender's office.

Of the five rapes McGhee is charged with, three happened at hotels. Victims said they were assaulted by a masked man who either knocked on the door or attacked them as they were leaving.

McGhee also is a suspect in a rape in Fulton.

Police in Springfield and Fulton are reviewing other sexual assault cases over the eight-year span.
