COLUMBIA  — Monday afternoon, as you were stripping off unnecessary layers of clothing, you may have noticed, it's warm. Really warm

At 2:50 p.m., temperatures at Sanborn Field on the MU campus reached the day's high, 77.8.

That's just 1.2 degrees shy of the National Weather Service's  all-time record for Nov. 3. Columbia temperatures reached 79 degrees in 1964, 1978 and 1987. The National Weather Service clocked a slightly lower Monday high of 75 degrees at 2:58 p.m.

Columbia should expect fair skies on Tuesday, too, as the weather is anticipated to stay warm and sunny for Election Day.

The National Weather Service predicts a high temperature of 76 for Tuesday. The normal high for the date is 59.
