Polls close in Columbia:
After a busy day helping 1,165 voters, poll workers from precinct 4E located at St. Andrews Lutheran Church close down for the evening. Polling places stayed open until 7 p.m. in Missouri, though poll workers at St. Andrews said their heaviest crowds came just as they opened in the morning. The precinct’s democratic supervisor, Liz Schmidt, has worked elections for 10 years. She said she enjoys working at the polls because she likes helping people vote.

Sarah Palin speaks in Jefferson City (from Monday):
Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin spoke to nearly 20,000 people in front of the Missouri Capitol building in Jefferson City on Monday. Running neck and neck in recent state polls, Palin’s visit was intended to encourage voter participation in Missouri, a swing state.
Obama visits MU (from Thursday):
An estimated 40,000 people came to hear Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama speak at MU on Thursday. Obama's speech lasted for 33 minutes and went over a diverse array of topics including the economy, health care and Iraq.
Waiting in line for Obama (from Thursday):
More than 100 supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama were already in line by 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008. Many supporters skipped classes, took off work and traveled hundreds of miles to hear Obama speak on Thursday night.
