ST. LOUIS — Opening statements are scheduled for Tuesday in the trial of a murder suspect who walked out of St. Louis police headquarters after being left unattended two years ago.
Jury selection was Monday in the trial Ladon Grissom, 21, of St. Louis, who faces charges of first-degree murder and escaping custody.
Grissom escaped in 2006 while being questioned for the shooting death of Juan Frazier, 33. Detectives briefly left Grissom unattended, and he was able to break handcuffs welded to a table and walk unnoticed out the front door. He later turned himself in, saying he had nothing to do with the killing.
Frazier was shot in the head on July 24, 2006, while standing with a group of friends.
