PACIFIC — A 15-year-old girl was killed when she was struck by an Amtrak train while walking on the tracks in Franklin County on Monday night.

The girl and three friends were walking north on the tracks approaching a railroad crossing when the train approached, according to police. One of the friends shouted for everyone to run; three made it, but the 15-year-old was struck by the train and later died at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital.

Police did not release the name of the girl, saying only that she was a resident of Catawissa.
