JEFFERSON CITY — A former lawmaker who resigned after pleading guilty to bribing a bank official is coming back to the Missouri Capitol.
Democrat John Bowman was introduced Thursday as the chief of staff for Senator-elect Robin Wright-Jones, of St. Louis.
Bowman pleaded guilty in January to a misdemeanor bribery charge in a bank and credit card fraud scheme brought by federal prosecutors. As part the deal, he resigned from his St. Louis House seat.
Bowman was sentenced in April to five years probation and is to pay restitution of $20,000.
He said Thursday that he's excited to return to the Capitol in a staff role.
