ST. LOUIS — An eastern Missouri man is sentenced to 30 years on charges of illegally distributing prescription drugs, which resulted in a death.
Burl Washington was convicted on June 20 of four felony drug counts, including distributing the painkillers fentanyl and oxycodone with death resulting.
U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway said Friday that the 41-year-old abused the Medicaid system to get prescription drugs, then sold them on the street. She said one of his sales resulted in the 2006 overdose death of Justin Knox. The 22-year-old construction worker from Farmington died before he could get to a hospital.
