PrintCOLUMBIA — A three-car accident in southwest Columbia sent five people to the hospital with injuries early Thursday afternoon, a Columbia Police Department news release said.
At 1:07 p.m., a red Honda van driven by Adrienne Jacober, 33, rear-ended a gray Buick driven by Roy Kent, 34, at the intersection of Scott Boulevard and Georgetown Drive, the release said. The collision forced Kent's vehicle into a blue-and-white Buick driven by Orlandis Harris, 26.
Jacober and Harris were both injured, as were two passengers in Harris' vehicle, the release said. The injured passengers were identified in the release as Chaka Brown, 30; Aaniya Harris, 1; and a passenger in Kent's vehicle, Michael McQuitty, 34, the release said. The injured were transported to the University Hospital for treatment.
As of 5 p.m., Jacober was listed in good condition. Orlandis Harris, Aaniya Harris, Brown and McQuitty all received treatment and were released, according to the hospital.
Jacober was cited for following too closely, the release said.
Brown was not wearing a seat belt, and Aaniya Harris was not wearing child restraints. All others involved were wearing seat belts, the release said.
