Northeast Columbia home burglarized Monday night

COLUMBIA — A house northeast of Columbia was burglarized Monday night, a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department stated.

The burglary occurred sometime between 11 p.m. Monday and 6:40 a.m. Tuesday in the 6200 block of Mexico Gravel Road while the residents were asleep inside the home, the release said.

Deputies think an unknown number of suspects rummaged through two unlocked cars outside the home during the night and then used the garage door opener in one of the cars to enter the home, according to the the release.

The suspects stole paintball equipment, hunting equipment, personal identification cards and an undisclosed amount of cash from the garage attached to the house, the release stated.

Boone County deputies investigated the burglary at approximately 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The Police Department requests that anyone with information about the burglary call the Boone County Sheriff's Department at 875-1111 or CrimeStoppers at 875-TIPS.
