PONTOON BEACH, Ill. — The St. Louis Police Department says it has fired Officer Bryan Pour for his involvement in an off-duty shooting in Pontoon Beach, Ill., over the weekend.

Meanwhile, authorities in Madison County say a grand jury will decide whether charges are warranted over the gunfire that left a different off-duty St. Louis police officer and another man wounded outside a tavern.

Lawyer Al Watkins says the 28-year-old Pour was defending himself against two men who were beating him outside Mac N Mick's Sports Bar and accidentally wounded another man who may have been coming to his aid.

He says Pour doesn't know why he was hit or if it was his weapon that was used to cause the injury.

A second city officer, Christopher Hantak, was shot by Pontoon Beach police who were called to the scene. Illlinois State Police and the city's Internal Affairs are investigating.
