JACKSON — A boy was injured when he was hit by a car just after the Veterans Day Parade in the southeast Missouri town of Jackson.

Jackson Fire Department Capt. Greg Hecht says the accident happened Tuesday on a street crowded with spectators after the parade. The child was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center. His condition was not available, but it appeared he was conscious and able to talk after he was hit.

The car that struck him was traveling slowly in the one lane that was open to drivers at the time. Authorities have not released the names of the boy or the driver.
