Small Missouri town marks replacement of collapsed Elks Lodge

CLINTON, Mo. -- Officials in the western Missouri town of Clinton have rescheduled a prayer breakfast to celebrate the reopening of an Elks Lodge that was the scene of a deadly collapse.

The new lodge stands on the same site on the town square where the old lodge came down in June 2006, killing Elks leader Tony Komer. Nine others were injured. It took rescuers 10 hours to free them from the wreckage of the three-story building, which housed a clothing store on the first floor.

Clinton city leaders have moved the prayer breakfast from Monday to Nov. 24. The breakfast will celebrate the reopening of the lodge and two other businesses. All three had moved temporarily after the collapse.
